Tut-mania is back

The first Tutankhamun Exhibition dominated London in 1972, creating a blockbuster that shattered attendance records…feeding a media frenzy that left us all with a lasting fascination for Tutankhamun and his world.

Now, in 2007, London is bracing itself yet again, because he’s back and Tut-Mania is set to take over once more.

With tickets going on sale to the public on Wednesday 12th September and as the capital prepares for an expected 2 million exhibition visitors, the promotional bandwagon has begun to roll. From one of the largest art installations London has ever seen, to pack promotions on your favourite breakfast cereal, nobody will be in any doubt the Boy King has returned.

Look out for these interesting promotions around London in the months leading up to the Exhibition opening:

On the same day tickets go on sale, Transport For London’s Oyster Card will be rebranded specially for the Tutankhamun Exhibition;

From September a 25 foot high jackal-headed Egptian god, Anubis, god of the dead, will be installed in Covent Garden;

In October, look out for one of London’s largest art installations, where pop artist Romero Britto will be displaying a series of pyramid sculptures around the capital, to celebrate the king’s return.
